Ryan Gentzler
Executive Director

Ryan Gentzler has worked in the Oklahoma criminal legal space since 2016. In his current role as Executive Director of Oklahoma Data Exchange, he relies on the expertise and relationships he has built over the last decade as he seeks to promote a fairer, more efficient justice system.

Starting out as a Criminal Justice Policy Analyst at the Oklahoma Policy Institute, Ryan was frustrated by the scarcity of data available to understand what was driving the state’s incarceration crisis. He began to develop tools to collect and examine District Court records, producing the first detailed analyses of the impact of landmark justice reform SQ 780, the burden of court fines and fees, and patterns in eviction filings during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also developed the methodology used by state lawmakers to calculate savings under SQ 781. His work led to the creation of Open Justice Oklahoma, which produces data to inform policy and programs across the state.

In 2022, Ryan was named Data Innovations Director for Fair and Just Prosecution, where he supported the data and research activities of elected prosecutors across the country.

Ryan is a native Nebraskan and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts in Institutions and Policy from William Jewell College.
